Last video of Christmas Day is one that’s made the rounds on the web, but I hadn’t posted yet. Figured I could end the week on a high note.
Unless you’re Austin Rivers.
The Duke prospect – and top guard in the class of 2011 – was playing with his Winter Park (Fla.) team in the City of Palms Classic last week when he tried to block a shot by Mater Dei’s Xavier Johnson. He took off too late.
The result? See for yourself.

I’m no high school fan, but I had to look something up after seeing the title to your article. In the City of Palms tournament, annually one of the nation’s best high school hoops events (I remember that from when I did follow HS hoops a little), Austin Rivers scored 28, 25, 28 and 42 points in his team’s 4 games. That’s a 30.75 points-per-game average. The next high scorer on his team averages less than a dozen.
And you guys create an article around ONE defensive play he tries to make chasing down an opposing player?
Better pick on someone else to trash, or attempt to. This kid’s going to have a terrific career at Duke and then in the play-for-pay ranks after that. Get over it, and get used to it.
What a half-@$$-ed article. You should be ashamed to even post it. You call yourself a “journalist”?
