Friday’s slate and what to watch

Belmont is crushing the Atlantic Sun. Before you roll your eyes, consider that the A-Sun isn’t the laughingstock league it once was. Yes, it has the worst NCAA tournament win percentage in the country. But this year it ranks ahead of the Ohio Valley, Southern and Big Sky conferences and is right on the Big West’s tail.

And Belmont is the cream of the conference. By far.

The Bruins (16-3, 8-0) boast an average win margin of 24.7 points. They’ve outscored conference foes by 1.15 points per possession and allowed just .88. That’s downright obscene.

This weekend, with trips to S.C. update and East Tennessee State, represents Belmont’s biggest challenge to an unbeaten conference season. Surpassing that challenge and logging a perfect conference season? Well, maybe the A-Sun could finally win that Big Dance outing. (7 p.m. ET.)
