Oklahoma State’s playing No. 7 Texas right now. That’s the easy tie-in to the must-read story of the day: “Dear Nate.”
But be warned. It’s not an easy read. Not by half.
ESPN’s Tom Friend wrote a terrific, poignant, overwhelmingly sad story about Nate Fleming, one of two Oklahoma State players who was killed in a 2001 plane crash that killed 10 people, all of which were part of the Cowboys program.
The writing’s fabulous, but it also has more than that. There are excerpts of letters Fleming wrote, embedded videos and reflections by former player Doug Gottlieb and Bill Hancock, whose son, Will, was also killed in the crash.
