When rosters for the McDonald’s All-American game were announced last week, scouts noted a few guys who were questionable additions, such as Marshall Plumlee and Johnny O’Bryant.
That prompted discussion among writers Jeff Borzello, Evan Daniels, Dave Telep and Jeff Goodman whether the McDonald’s game was slowly devolving into a complete mess because the committee members don’t really know who the nation’s best prep players are.
So Borzello went one step further. He says the Jordan Brand Classic is now the prep game to watch because the rosters are better.
He’s got a point. When players like Quincy Miller and Michael Gbinije aren’t on the McDonald’s roster, that hurts. Borzello says neither roster it perfect -- Nick Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Josiah Turner and B.J. Young are among the players who didn’t make either game – but Jordan’s coming closer.
Something to keep in mind for the McDonald’s people. You either evolve, or you get left behind. Ask a newspaper.
