Ever wonder what the Top 25 might look like without BCS schools? You’re in luck. Asher Fusco did just that over at College Hoops Journal.
His list is slightly different from bbstate’s small conference rankings, both in how it compiled and the schools it includes. You won’t find any MWC schools, Xavier, Memphis or Gonzaga in bbstate’s ranking.
ANYWAY, BYU and San Diego State are 1 and 2 in Fusco’s ranking, followed by George Mason, Utah State and Xavier. Tough to argue with that order, though I think I’d flip Utah State and Xavier for the Tu Holloway factor.
Good news for Ivy League fans! Harvard makes an appearance at No. 23, two spots ahead of Memphis.
That’s how you know this is a great game. The Crimson spent $855,000 on their hoops program in 2009, placing them 288 out of 344 schools. Memphis dished out $6.5 million, 18th overall.
