Gibbs miffed Pitt ‘lost to them bums,’ then apologizes

Ashton Gibbs was more than a little peeved about No. 4 Pitt losing to No. 16 Louisville. And no wonder.

The Panthers (25-4, 13-3) got shoved around a bit, didn’t dominate on the boards and had to settle for several shots out of their comfort zone. Gibbs, who was just 3 of 11 from the floor, took at least three 3-pointers that were well beyond the arc in an effort to find some shooting room.

Now they’ll have to win their last two games to ensure they clinch the Big East title.

So Gibbs, like any competitor, vented about it. On Twitter.

The sentiment? Not a big deal. I’d be mad about losing too.

But the language choice probably wasn’t what Pitt coach Jamie Dixon had in mind because a few hours later Gibbs tweeted a series of apologies.

Big picture, the tweet isn’t a big deal.

What should matter? The Panthers’ second loss in their last three games.

Pitt has to go back to being an offensive team. Lately they have been relying on their defense. From past experience ,it seems to be the only way teams advance in the NCCA tournament.Referees go out of their way to penalize defensive teams in the NCCA tournament, not to mention getting rid of nail biters against weaker opponents.
