Charles Barkley thinks Billy Packer is a jackass, doesn’t know any players on Wofford

One of the most fascinating components to the CBS-Turner Sports bi-mutual agreement to broadcast each and every 2011 NCAA Tournament game are the non-college basketball talking heads that will be covering the event. Steve Kerr and Reggie Miller have both dabbled in the end of the regular season as a way to stretch their legs before the important games commence, and, as you see below, Charles Barkley is ready to just crush skulls before the field is even announced.

Last month, Billy Packer, the former color guy of nearly every national championship game, told USA Today’s Michael Hiestand that he was worried about the quality of product that fans would be given this year, elaborating to the idea that CBS was “interested in maximizing its revenues rather than finding a ‘better way to show the tournament.’”

One month later, Barkley revealed that he took um-bridge to the call-out, going as far as to call Packer a jackass.

I’m sure he’s not the first to do so.

Barkley furthered his diatribe by essentially saying that money talks, and that’s why ESPN isn’t the one broadcasting this spectacular event.

Personally, I am excited to see what a handful of non-college basketball analysts can bring to the table. Their approach to the game, almost serving more as pro scouts, is refreshing to get a new perspective on the best that college basketball has to offer.

Sir Charles, thank you for calling out that curmudgeon.
