Hoping for another MAC-Big East stunner? Too bad

Ohio provided one of the massive upsets of the 2010 NCAA tournament by ripping 3 seed Georgetown in the first round.

This year, the MAC is represented by No. 15 seed Akron, which plays Notre Dame in the first round of the Southwest Regional.

What are the odds of another upset? Zero, writes Justice Hill.

Yes, The Zips blocked 15 Kent State shots in the MAC tournament title game. But they lack anyone with the scoring ability of Armon Bassett or D.J. Cooper, guys the Hoyas couldn’t stop last season.

But hey, don’t take Justice’s word for it. Allow Akron coach Keith Dambrot to assess his team’s performance against Kent State:

“We were very fortunate to win,” he said. “The ball just bounced our way.”

Hm. Doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence for the Irish…
