Butler fans cheer another Final Four -- at 2 a.m.

Butler could get used to this. Scratch that. The Bulldogs are used to it.

“I think it’s about believing, and we want them to believe,” coach Brad Stevens said Sunday. “You know people say ‘This is unbelievable.’ But when you know these guys, it’s not unbelievable. It’s believable.”

Who know who else is used to it? Butler fans.

Hundreds of Bulldog supporters gathered for an impromptu 2 a.m. ET rally at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis when the team returned from winning the Southeast Regional in New Orleans.

Stevens and junior guard Ronald Nored addressed the crowd – and did their best to enjoy the moment and stoke some future support.

“Houston’s not that far. All of you should be there,” Stevens said. “If all of you could make it there, we would love to have you. And if you can’t, you can tune in and support us the way you did tonight.”

It’s the second straight Final Four for Butler, which lost to Duke in last year’s title game. After that loss, President Obama did an unusual move by calling both the victor and the loser. That stuck with Nored.

“I told somebody today that this year, we’re going to get the real call from President Obama and not the runner-up call,” he told the crowd.
