Michigan St.'s Roe was ‘AWOL’ this summer -- in a movie

Delvon Roe’s starring role might not come on the basketball court.

The Michigan State senior’s rarely been healthy during his time in East Lansing, but it doesn’t sound as if injury issues will keep him from a post-hoops career in movies. (slight hyperbole)

Roe tweeted earlier this month (H/T: Diamond Leung) about landing a role in the film “AWOL,” which stars young actors such as Liam Hemsworth, Austin Stowell and Aimee Teegarden and is being filmed on the Michigan campus.

It’s a Vietnam-era flick that features soldier Stowell getting dumped by Teegarden and eventually heading to the states to win her back. (I’ll probably pass.)

Roe spent the month doing various scenes, beating the heat, avoiding boredom and got a taste of fame when Miley Cyrus, Hemsworth’s girlfriend, started following him on Twitter.

It’s quite the coup for Roe, who’s a theater major who, according to teammate Draymond Green “really does love” acting and could focus on it if basketball doesn’t pan out as a career.
