Is it a Duke-UNC alumni game without Redick or Psycho T?

The NBA season isn’t looking so hot. In better news, the players still want to play. And fans get to enjoy it all.

The last few months featured a bevy of alumni charity/exhibition games, the most notable being the UK Legends vs. Villains game last month. The latest exhibition figures to earn even more media attention, though.

Per our buddies at ProBasketballTalk, Duke and North Carolina will play a “Kings of Tobacco Road” game on Nov. 17. Blue Devils Nation says it’ll be played at North Carolina Central in Durham, N.C.

(One can only hope Dick Vitale volunteers to do the color commentary. It’d make his year.)

The rosters seem to be in flux (and probably will remain that way until game time), but Blue Devil Nation and Dime report the first game looks like this:

Duke: Kyrie Irving, Nolan Smith, Corey Maggette, Chris Duhon, Elton Brand, Gerald Henderson, and coached by Jay Williams

UNC: Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, Brendan Haywood, Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, Raymond Felton, Shammond Williams, Donald Williams, and coached by Phil Ford

(Though Adam Rowe of Duke Hoop Blog says Williams isn’t coaching.)

Those rosters seem small given these guys might be a bit out of shape. Also, plenty of guys are missing. Where’s J.J. Redick? Or Tyler Hansbrough? Or Ty Lawson? Or Shelden Williams? Or Sean May? Or Josh McRoberts? (Har!)

It’d be impossible to stage an exhibition between these two with using a complete roster of recent grads, but surely Redick and Hansbrough will play. What’s the point if the two most celebrated (read: reviled) players of the last decade aren’t in it?

Rowe says Redick is a possibility. I certainly hope so.
