A few things this article chooses to ignore:

1) juniors and seniors also go into the draft with hype, get drafted in the lottery, and turn out to be utter busts as well (and take a spot from an NBA vet that probably broke into the league the same way). For example, Joe Alexander and Adam Morrison.

2) the NBA actually has a PR department that has proved it is quite capable of marketing its players. Even ones with one or two years of college experience or no experience at all. Also all 30 NBA teams have PR departments that also do a good job of marketing their players.

3) Why do you think that NBA fans don't know who Perry Jones is? If the premise of your argument is that NBA should use college as a free marketing machine because NBA fans watch college ball shouldn't we already know who he is?

4) For every Brandan Wright, there's a Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, and John Wall. You would think a guy writing a Cuse basketball blog would know this.
