Xavier’s dealing with injuries to two key players as it prepares to face Baylor in Friday’s Sweet 16 game.

Freshman Dezmine Wells has a sprained big toe and won’t practice this week. The Musketeers’ sixth-man is their third-leading scorer (10 ppg) played just eight minutes in their win against Lehigh, but was the guy who iced their victory against Notre Dame two days earlier.

Also resting this week? Starting forward Andre Walker. He played 20 minutes vs Lehigh, but wasn’t 100 percent after being hit on the head against the Irish.

“He really gutted it out against Lehigh. I didn’t think he was going to be able to play despite me saying that I thought he would play. He didn’t look real good at the shoot-around the day of and he’s probably not going to practice much this week, but I would think he’d be available for Friday,” coach Chris Mack told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Mack says Walker should be available to play Friday, but is uncertain about Wells.
