With all the Nerlens Noel news, don’t forget about Shabazz Muhammad

SHABAZZ-MUHAMMAD

Shabazz Muhammad was primed to be the biggest story of the spring signing period but, while being courted by some of the nation’s top programs, got the carpet of attention swept out from under him.

Now enters the long, lanky, 6-10 Nerlens Noel, reclassifying from the Class of 2013 to the Class of 2012, nabbing the No. 1 spot in the recruiting ranks, finding himself the centerpiece of a story in the New York Times, and doing it all while sporting one of the slickest flat-top haircuts we’ve seen since the early ‘90s.

Suddenly, those who haven’t been following recruiting closely think Noel has been the story all along, while Muhammad, though now No. 1a on the list of biggest fish left in the 2012 pond, has had to share the spotlight with Noel.

Muhammad is a product of the desert, from Bishop Gorman High School (Nev.), and is a top priority for Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNLV, USC, and UCLA.

While the hype machine has gained momentum with Noel, the only big news to come out of the Muhammad camp was a report from CBSSports.com that said the NCAA is warning schools involved with him that questions are being raised about his relationship between his family and two financial advisers.

In hand with that, Jeff Borzello took the time to write out all of Muhammad’s unofficial visits, which don’t include the times he’s visited local school UNLV.

Point being, despite the increased attention on Noel and the fact that Muhammad has been less-so in the spotlight, some team is going to make a big catch in the spring signing period.

Muhammad is an intelligent basketball player with long arms and the ability to, plainly put, score the basketball. If you haven’t seen highlights, check some out right here.

He is expected to be a one-and-done prospect wherever he lands and don’t be fooled, if you think is named is getting overshadowed by Noel. This kid will make an impact.
