Michigan St.'s Derrick Nix reportedly arrested on marijuana charges

UPDATE: Spartans coach Tom Izzo has indefinitely suspended Nix and termed his status with the program in “serious jeopardy.”

Michigan State center Derrick Nix was arrested Monday night in East Lansing, Mich., for allegedly operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession, the Lansing State-Journal reported.

Nix has yet to be arraigned and was still in jail as of noon ET, the paper reports.

Both charges are misdemeanors.

Nix, a 21-year-old junior, played in 37 games for the Spartans, averaging 8.1 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.
