Matt Glover, a Penn State transfer, and De’End Parker, from Ben Howland’s program at UCLA, will head to San Francisco to play for head coach Rex Walters.

“Obviously every day in practice and in games they have played at a very high level against some of the top teams in the nation,” Walters said in a release. “They have a good understanding of what it takes to compete and be successful at that level.”

Glover averaged 2.8 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Nittany Lions this past season. The Orange, Calif., native had his best game of the season in a loss to Kentucky, when he went for nine points.

“Watching him in junior college, he can shoot and score the basketball,” Walters said. “We recruited him hard and quite honestly couldn’t get him to come to USF from Sheridan. We’re just happy we got a second chance.”

Parker averaged four points and two rebounds per game in only two games for UCLA. The 6-6 forward is a native of San Francisco.

“This was more for De’End than just coming back to the city,” Walters said. “It was about family and taking care of his family. Obviously we’re benefiting greatly from that, but he’s here because he wants to take care of people he really loves and cares about.”

San Francisco is looking to file a hardship waiver that would allow Parker to play right away. He left UCLA earlier this year to attend to family matters.
