Constitution (Pa.) guard Daiquan Walker mulling reclassification, lists possible prep schools

HAMPTON, Va.—Daiquan Walker, a 2012 guard from Constitution (Pa.), tells NBCSports.com that there is a “60/40” chance that he attends prep school and reclassifies to 2013.

“I’m thinking about it, going prep,” he said at the Hoop Group Jam Fest at Boo Williams in Hampton. “It’s mostly academic stuff that I would work out. That’s what it would be.”

Walker says Brewster Academy (N.H.) and IMG Academy (Fl.) are his two most likely destinations, were he to choose to go prep. Constitution teammate Savon Goodman is also considering reclassifying, and has reportedly listed Brewster as well.

Walker says the two have talked about perhaps playing together.

Along with getting his academics in line, Walker believes another year could prepare him for college on the court.

“It will help me get stronger. I’ll be in the gym a lot more,” he said. “I’ll be away from home, so I’ll be more focused and get ready for the next level.”

He has been hesitant to define a set list of schools, as offers and interest continue to come in.

“I’m still keeping things pretty open because some new coaches have been calling for the Class of 2013,” he said.

He lists interest from Providence, Seton Hall, Virginia, UCF, and Temple in recent weeks, as he has been mulling reclassification.

He additionally holds offers from Florida State, Maryland, Nebraska, Rutgers, and Syracuse.
