UCF guard Marcus Jordan arrested in Omaha early Sunday morning

According to the Associated Press, UCF guard Marcus Jordan was arrested in the early hours of Sunday following a disturbance outside of an Omaha, Nebraska hotel.

Jordan, who averaged 13.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Knights last season, was released on Sunday night after being booked on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing.

Apparently Jordan was arguing with two women in the driveway of an Embassy Suites hotel, and according to the police report he was “very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative.”

Of course the first thing that many will mention is the fact that his father is none other than Michael Jordan.

But the bigger question at this point, one that’s been around for a few weeks now, is whether or not Jordan will return to UCF for his senior campaign.

While UCF has a relatively strong lineup of returning players and a chance to compete for a Conference USA title, Jordan has lost two close friends on the team. Jordan’s older brother, Jeff Jordan, and best friend, A.J. Rompza, are no longer with the basketball program and are pursuing their own post-college opportunities. It appeared Rompza would be staying in Orlando and providing moral support for Marcus Jordan, but he is now training elsewhere and could potentially play professionally overseas.

That report is from June 12, and there hasn’t been much made of the situation since. Whether or not Jordan returns the Knights have some talented pieces, led by Keith Clanton and Tristan Spurlock.

Transfers C.J. Reed (Bethune-Cookman) and Calvin Newell (Oklahoma; eligible in December) should help Donnie Jones’ team on the perimeter.

Unfortunately for Marcus, he’ll have to deal with this legal issue while also deciding whether or not to play his senior season.
