Villanova transfer Markus Kennedy reportedly headed to SMU

Former Villanova forward Markus Kennedy has transferred to play for head coach Larry Brown at SMU, Dave Telep of ESPN is reporting.
Kennedy announced his intent to transfer from Villanova back in June after averaging 3.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 games last year for the Wildcats.
“Markus has been a valued member of our basketball family,” Villanova coach Jay Wright said in a statement at the time of Kennedy’s transfer. “We wish him the best in his new endeavor.”
At 6-9, 260 pounds, Kennedy brings size to Larry Brown’s program at SMU, months after he took over the program. Other notable players have transferred to play for Brown at SMU, including Arizona guard Josiah Turner and Illinois’ Crandall Head.
Turner has since decided to turn pro, either trying to make it in the NBA D-League or play overseas.
Kennedy is a New Jersey native and had a complicated transfer process after announcing he would be leaving Villanova, including rumors that he would actually return to the Wildcats.
SMU finished 13-19 last season, including 4-12 in Conference USA. The Mustangs will soon be moving back to the conference Kennedy came from, the Big East, when they realign in 2013.
