The Morning Mix

- If you’re looking for a “Read of the Day”, look no further than Gary Parrish, who tells a fantastic story about Skal Labissiere, one of the top rising sophomores in the country, who escaped the devastating earthquakes that struck Haiti in 2010

- Jay Bilas has returned to tell us what the NCAA can do to fix the “One-and-done” rule

- Yup, I’m with Raph on this one. Giving conference commisioners isn’t the solution

- Are you in the market for a good hoops documentary to sink your teeth into? Just watch the trailer. It’s almost better that it’s a real documentary and not a major motion picture

- I love what Tennessee is doing with social media. We live in an age where kids don’t know how to use it properly and coaches don’t understand it properly. So it’s refreshing to see a school like Tennessee get it right

- Run The Floor provides a fairly solid list of the top-12 shooters in college hoops. Rotnei Clarke is a sure-fire lock, but it will be interesting to see how much Brad Steven’s offense can control Clarke’s shot volume

- Speaking of great shooters, Murray State’s Isiah Cannan is back and ready for more

- ESPN’s Summer Shootaround series hits the Missouri Valley Conference. Grant Gibbs is a fan-favorite around these parts. He’s also the most important player for the Creighton Bluejays this year. (Grant once critiqued me on the difference between Bluejays and Blue Jays. My Alma mater was the Blue Jays, but he’s a Bluejay. I digress.) Myron Medcalf breaks down the most important players for every team in the conference

- Medcalf also provides some insight on the top five freshman in the MVC

- Andy Katz explains how Illionis State plans to rebound off the loss of Tim Jankovich

- Eamonn Brennan covers all the potential scenarios for each team in the MVC

- Brennan also follows up on Luke Winn’s phenomenal piece on “up-transferring”. The world of transfers isn’t what is used to be

- To agree or disagree, that is the question. Eric Crawford doesn’t think Kentucky football has to piggyback off of the basketball program. Jared Lorenzen and Randall Cobb disagree

- A great-read from CAAhoops.com on what the conference needs to do this off-season

- Am I the only one who has been underselling Arizona State center Jordan Bachynski? I just don’t see anything other than a serviceable seven-footer. Sure, he’s got a good story I guess. But that’s it.

- Remember how the issue of transferring within conferences was a hot-button issue (See: Jarrod Uthoff vs. Bo Ryan/U. of Wisconsin)? Well, Jay Wright didn’t seem to have an issue with Markus Kennedy transferring from Villanova to Big East “foe” SMU

- On Thursday it was confirmed that Jabari Parker, the top recruit in the class of 2013, has a fracture in his right foot, and will miss the rest of the summer. He will likely make a college commitment in November

- Rich Bozich thinks Jabari Parker’s injury might have something to do with the Madden Sports Illustrated curse

- Trevor Mbakwe, Minnesota’s soon-to-be sixth year super senior , is well on the road to recover and should be able to play in the season opener

- Ohh, to be a highly touted freshman again....#Thosewerethedays (Oh, and, I’m not trying to get anybody it trouble here, but, well, how high does Twany Beckham look in that lip-dub?)

- Raise your hand if you expected to read about Dennis Rodman’s upbringing today? Yeah, I didn’t think so

- The trick shot troupe “Dude Perfect” has returned to provide their best Olympic shots
