Ryan Miller reportedly leaves assistant position at Missouri to become associate HC at Auburn

After just two months as an assistant at Missouri, coach Ryan Miller is leaving to become the associate head coach at Auburn, Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com is reporting.

“It was a difficult decision because I really enjoyed working at Missouri and I can’t think of a better head coach to work for than Coach Haith,” Miller said in a statement, as reported by Goodman. “I appreciate how supportive he was of me during this process and the culture he has created here is among the best in college basketball.”

Miller trades one color of Tiger stripes for another with his move from Missouri to Auburn, reportedly getting a pay raise and the chance to work with former colleague Tony Barbee in his new role.

Barbee, now the head coach at Auburn, was an assistant under John Calipari at Memphis during the time when Miller was a video coordinator there.

“I do want to say how much I appreciated my short time in Columbia and I know why my friends and colleagues spoke so highly of Frank and Mizzou,” Miller continued. “This is such a special place to so many people and my experience with our student-athletes, the University and the city will stay with me forever.”

Miller left New Mexico in the spring to take over the position at Missouri.

Auburn is coming off of a 15-16 season under Barbee, including 5-11 in the SEC. The Tigers are bringing in six players from the Class of 2012 to fill the roster, including guard Jordan Price and big-time athlete Shaquille Johnson.
