The Morning Mix

- Nothing like some good, ol’ fashioned August Bracketology to get your Tuesday started

- In case you abandoned the college basketball scene during the Olympics, Jeff Eisenberg has you covered

- The APR system is flawed. But just because it’s flawed doesn’t mean it should be removed or replaced

- The Big East Conference could reveal their new commissioner anytime in the next few hours. It won’t be Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick. Is it Jay Bilas? Probably not, but I hope it is

- I still don’t understand all the hubbub surrounding the survey in which head coaches talked about other coaches cheating. But Mike DeCourcy does not approve of coaches talking bad about other coaches for a media survey

- Missouri forfeited an exhibition game against a Dutch team after head coach Frank Haith pulled his team off the floor following an ejection. The game was marred by poor officiating and Haith was concerned about the safety and well-being of his players. After the brawl that Georgetown found themselves in China last season, it was probably a cautious, yet smart, decision

- A note to prospective job seekers: Don’t lie on your resume

- Before the end of the week we should know whether or not Providence freshman Ricardo Ledo will be eligible to suit up for the Friars

- With Austin Rivers gone, is it time for Coach-K to hand over the keys to Quinn Cook?

- Speaking of Duke, is Coach-K’s affiliation with Team USA basketball really that much of a recruiting advantage?

- It will be very interesting to see what Southern Cal does this year. They don’t return a lot, but do get back two huge pieces, Jio Fontan and Dewayne Dedmon. Both players missed all of last season with serious injuries

- Did You Know: Since 2007 no defending National Championship team has made it past the Sweet-Sixteen

- BYU guard Damarcus Harrison is transferring to Clemson. It’s actually an interesting situation. The would-be sophomore was planning on taking his mission this off-season, but decided to change the dates. Unfortunately, the program already used up his scholarship on somebody else

- Charlotte freshman Shawn Lester was deemed ineligible to participate by the NCAA and will not play this season for the 49ers

- Kentucky, Baylor and Maryland have separated themselves from the rest of the schools in the race to land the Harrison twins

- Temple Gibbs, the younger brother of Sterling and Ashton Gibbs, received an offer from Seton Hall, where Sterling currently goes to schools

- A post-summer breakdown of the top shooting guards in the class of 2014
