It didn’t take much time following Kansas’ trip to Europe for freshman guard Milton Doyle to realize that it was going to be tough to get playing time this season.
So the decision was made to leave Lawrence, and on Thursday it was announced that the Chicago native will attend Loyola-Chicago.
Doyle will most likely have to sit out the 2012-13 campaign due to the fact that he took two sessions of summer classes at Kansas, but regardless of when he’s eligible to play Doyle will help Porter Moser’s program.
The Ramblers won just seven games in Moser’s first season at the helm, but with a solid 2012 recruiting class and the addition of Iowa transfer Cully Payne Loyola will improve from a talent standpoint.
Loyola also went on a trip this summer, winning three of the four games they played in Italy. Senior forward Ben Averkamp led the team in scoring last season, with guard Joe Crisman and wing Jordan Hicks being two other key returnees.
But for a program located in Chicago to not have any players from the Windy City on the current roster is something that has to change if Moser is to be successful at Loyola.
That’s the other area in which Doyle, who attended Marshall High, comes into play and being closer to home should benefit him as well.
