The Morning Mix

Aug 30, 2012, 8:00 AM EDT

- I really do enjoy the content produced by the Marquette blog Cracked Sidewalks. But sometimes I’m just not smart enough to handle all the equations and formulas (I was told there would be no math)

- The Washington Huskies are on an exhibition trip in Spain, and Abdul Gaddy hit a buzzer-beating half court shot to force overtime in their most recent game against Zaragoza (Can I get a “Cold Blooded” reference? Excellent)

- Doane College is embracing their inner-#BIAHRoadTrip. But there is nothing fun about driving across all of Nebraska. There is literally nothing there

- Eamonn Brennan brings us all up to speed with the Dez Wells situation (No joke, this whole ordeal has actually been pretty difficult to follow)

- Pittsburgh is holding their “Midnight Madness” outside this year (And no, it will not be held on an aircraft carrier)

- Expansionocalypse never sleeps. Loyola (Md.) is leaving the MAAC in order to join the Patriot League

- I love this piece on Deshaun Thomas written by Sport Illustrated’s Paul Daugherty

– Luke Winn provides the Big Ten summer round-up. Must-read stuff

- Ricky Ledo arrived at Providence today for freshman orientation, but there still is no word from the NCAA on his eligibility issues

- I do believe that there is a lot of good work being done by compliance offices around the country, but the secondary violation reported at Kentucky is just ludicrous

- Northwestern could have the best “walk-on” story of the upcoming year (Nothing will ever compare to “Jewish Jordan”, though)

- Former-Texas assistant Rodney Terry has used his Big-XII roots to create a growing pipeline out to Fresno State, where he just finished his first season as head coach. The Bulldogs finished 13-20, but have some high-level talent on the way
