After two years with Kentucky, coach Billy Gillispie was fired. Now, on the verge of beginning his second season with Texas Tech, there appear to be problems within the Red Raider program.

According to ESPN.com, a group of Texas Tech players met with athletic director Kirby Hocutt this week to discuss concerns over the way they had been treated by Gillispie. That meeting reportedly came after players met with compliance officials about “the number of hours they were being asked to practice.”

“We are aware and are looking into concerns within the leadership of our men’s basketball program,” associate AD Blayne Beal told ESPN. “Student-athlete well-being is our top priority and a matter that we take extremely seriously at Texas Tech. Texas Tech is devoting its full resources to look into this matter.”

Last season with the Red Raiders, Gillispie led the team to an 8-23 overall record, including 1-17 in the Big 12.

This news about Gillispie comes at the same time that LubbockOnline.com is reporting the 52-year-old coach was hospitalized for an unknown medical reason. According to the report, he remains in satisfactory condition.

Prior to his time at Texas Tech and Kentucky, Gillispie was the head coach at Texas A&M and UTEP.

It doesn’t suprise me that these allegations are being brought up against him the way he works and the way he pushes he’s kids

Your right gator the only moron here is you because you like to stock me. If you knew anything about what he did at UK he made one guy sit in the bathroom during a game because he had a bad game then made one of his players walk home for having a bad game. Not only is he a moron he’s a bad coach and this goes to show it. if you took as much time to look up stuff as you do stocking me you might know what your talking about sometimes

Billy Clyde is a great coach, not a good person. Like I said just because it didn’t work at uk doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach..uk really give hin much of a shot to be honest 2 years is not fair to a coach. No one could have done a better job at a&m then blilly Clyde did. He did an excellent job at Illinois recruiting and will turn around Texas tech.. Imforbigblue anyone who is not uk is a hater or a moron get over your self you dumb fucking idiot..I’m sure your mother and therapist warned you about going online and showing you 10 year old mental capacity
