Report: NCAA investigating recruitments of UCLA freshmen Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker

UCLA was forced to keep Shabazz Muhammad in the United States as it made a trip to China last month as the NCAA continued its investigation into whether he received improper benefits during his recruitment.

Now, according to Scout.com and confirmed by other outlets, the NCAA is looking into the recruitments of star freshmen Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker, as well.

Anderson, a 6-8 point forward from Jersey City, N.J., was a top-5 player from the Class of 2012 and is a versatile playmaker and facilitator for his size.

He led St. Anthony (N.J.) to back-to-back New Jersey state championships under legendary coach Bob Hurley.

On the Bruins recent trip to China, Anderson had 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over the professional Shanghai Sharks.

As for Parker, the 6-9, 270-pound native of Georgia, he was the final piece of the Bruins’ 2012 recruiting class, as highly skilled big man that could make an impact in the post in the Pac-12.

Prior to news of the investigations of Anderson and Parker, the NCAA had already been looking into Muhammad’s relationship with two financial advisors and how his unofficial visits to college campuses were paid for.

The three prospects, Muhammad, Anderson, and Parker, along with Oak Hill (Va.) forward Jordan Adams, comprise one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.

The Bruins won all three games on their trip to China and now look forward to the 2012-13 season in which they will try to improve upon a 19-14 overall record from last year.
