Does anyone know whether he was brought up to put academics first or was told that playing basketball would be his way out? Before anyone talks negative about any athlete, lets look at where and how they were brought up and help guide them down the right path, instead of bashing them. I know him personally, he is strong headed, but has a good heart and good intentions.
What I have to say to Luke is while you are out, get yourself together academically, put God first in your life and placed yourself around people that are honest and truthful and one day all of this will be behind you and you will rise on top.

That’s not what it actually is, especially when it comes to football and basketball, but that is most certainly the ideal. And by not reacting to this issue with Cothron, the NCAA is completely going against that ideal.

Since when has that been “the point of college athletics”?
It certainly has devolved to the point where college athletics programs justify enrolling kids who have no interest in or aptitude for academics, but to say that it’s “the point of college athletics” is disingenious, at best.
