16 of those free throws came in the final two minutes when Memphis was fouling on purpose. 30-20 is still an advantage, but it's not near as egregious as Memphis fans like to make it sound. Louisville was on their third string front court and for whatever reason, Pastner decided to not feed his front court. The leading rebounders were combo guards that played less minutes than four other players. Pastner didn't even attempt to play to Louisvilles weakness. Pile that onto the immense number of turnovers and Louisville being very efficient in converting those turnovers, and you lose. The free throw discrepancy wasn't as bad as people are pretending. 46 is a flashy number, but not in the context of the immense number intentionally committed to slow down the game in the closing minutes.

Yeah, I hate to admit it but the refs were absolutely on our side. This was a one sided event from that standpoint but if Memphis belonged in our league, they would have overcome it.

Every time I saw a missed call against them, I laughed hard and had another beer. I guess we now belong in a league with Duke. Oh yeah, we are.

Most of the turnovers should have been fouls called against Louisville. Again, Louisville is a good team but Memphis outplayed them today. The refs should never be allowed on another basketball court.

I'm a Cards fan and listened to the game and the Lou announcers commented about several calls that went Louisville's way. tough loss for memphis, but when u turn it over 25 times bad things are gonna happen. plus, Josh isn't helping much when the going gets tough. Johnson is a stud, though.

Do you think the 46 free throws shot by Louisville as opposed to the 20 by Memphis had anything to do with it? Not taking anything away from Louisville but that had to be the worst officiated game I have ever witnessed.
