Wooden Award releases its midseason Top 25 list

The Wooden Award released its midseason Top 25 list on Thursday afternoon, singling out 25 of the nation’s best players. The list includes two members of the award’s 2012 All-America team in Creighton’s Doug McDermott and Murray State’s Isaiah Canaan.

Three freshmen, UNLV’s Anthony Bennett, Kansas’ Ben McLemore and Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart, made the list and three programs (Duke, Missouri and Kansas) have multiple players on the list.

Duke’s Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee are both on the list while Kansas big man Jeff Withey joins McLemore, and seniors Phil Pressey and Laurence Bowers represent Missouri.

Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum made the list despite being ruled out for 8-10 weeks due to a broken bone in his left foot. The list will be trimmed down to ten players the weekend of the Elite 8, with the recipient of the award to be announced during Final Four weekend.
