What defense is there in enforcing rules that both the NCAA and Coaches were both collectively trying to change/update for the past decade?

The NCAA is openly being criticized by commentators, fans, coaches alike for being incredibly slow to react and (up until recently) completely oblivious to their own outdated rules. Dragging out cases for years w/ one hand, while in discussions to throw out those very rules w/ the other.

It will be interesting to see if the NCAA’s power is challenged when Superconferences begin to form in the near future.

Either way… About time NCAA, about time.
