A couple of those seasons were horrendous. Even if these young men are only ranked number one for a week, it is an acknowledgement of their effort and the effort of the administration behind them. Being ranked number one in the country was not the objective at IU. Making the effort to return to prominance in an honest fashion was the objective. It’s a good storyline and watching it over the past several years has been enlightening.

Now that’s funny. Remember the year where they were ranked 2d in the final poll and got a #5 seed. There is some talent there but each year we see the same thing out of the Zags…they continue winning games in a conference that is among the worst in the country, then chocking in the tourney. I live about 30 miles from Gonzaga and have seen them play several times this season. As usual, their guards will be their downfall. If the Zags were in a conference like the Big Ten, Big East, ACC, SEc, etc. we wouldn’t be having the same conversation each year. They’d be lucky to be a .500 team. Mark Few is a good coach and a really good man but the team is over rated year after year.
