Most likely he was angry at Katz because Katz tried to do an ESPN character assassination number on him the same way they did to Paterno. Kudos to Boeheim for speaking up and defending himself – something that Paterno never got to do.

Face it, the media has their favorites, and they have their targets. You can be one of those one day, and the other the next day. It often depends on whether or not you’re a “good quote”. I’m not an Andy Katz fan. I also not an Andy Katz hater. If Boeheim called him out like that though, I’m guessing there’s a good chance he “earned the recognition”. Most ESPN reporters are, or maybe I should say have become, very arrogant. They get what they deserve.

On a different note, I never understood why Boeheim got called out by the media mainly ESPN back in December for saying he is for gun control, especially given that ESPN then turnaround and praised the other college coach that did same thing. It was his first press conference since the tragic shooting and every public figure in the country was talking about it. I can’t remember who it was or if it was football or basketball but the other coach said the exact same thing like a week later yet he was praised for it.

Can’t say I blame Boeheim on this.

If you leak off the record comments, claiming you had an authorized interview with a player when he is in the layup line before the game, knowing full well that teams don’t let reporters interview players when they are standing in the layup line, you’re going to get called out.

Jim probably has good reason, I have no problem with a coach telling a reporter
to shove it where the sun don’t shine as long as he has a good reason.

uhhh…..go listen to a sampling of Katz’s reports thru the years……he IS an idiot. He like so many on radio and TV think its all about themselves…..in their mind they are bigger than the game…….(ditto Cowherd, Racillo, Patrick, Rome, Bayless, to name a few!
