Things like this happen. A number of years ago I was watching a Kansas game. A timeout was called and as one of his players sat down Roy Williams whipped him hard across the leg with a towel. You could tell it stung. I couldn't believe the commentators didn't mention it. I lost some respect for Roy Williams after that.

Now I've lost some respect for Mike Montgomery over this shove which I watched live on TV. I have held him in very high regard all through his Stanford years and have been waiting for Cal to reach the levels Montgomery's Stanford teams did. They are on their way and then Montgomery let's his "Woody Hayes" out of the bottle. Unbelievable. I loved Woody Hayes. It hurt to see him lose it like he did, grabbing an opposing player and punching him. The idea of it is so absurd it sounds funny, but it happened. People remember him more for that incident, instead of all the winning teams he coached, the Big 10 championships and national championships he won. He was a great coach.

I still remember Latrelle Sprewell choking P.J. Carlisimo and having to be pulled of his coach.

It is a real shame about all three of these guys. Unfortunately, although people do forgive, they do not forget.
