Yes, still an independent. But they did have a deal with the Big East that would allow them access to the bowl lineup in years that they failed to reach the BCS. That essentially “continues” with the ACC, but with more attractive bowl options.

Notre Dame is going to remain independent in football, aren’t they? I probably haven’t kept up with it as much as I’d like, but I thought wherever ND went, it was with the understanding that football remains independent. No?

Well a big reason why Notre Dame made the move was for the bowl tie-ins. They weren’t going to have an attractive group of bowl games in the new “Conference to be named.” Coming to an agreement with the ACC gives ND a more attractive group of bowl games to choose from, and they’re a part of the new Orange Bowl setup when the BCS goes away.

This will be a great hoops conference for sure. I I think ND may end up regreting the move to the ACC.

Excuse me, but Rutgers, Louisville, and Notre Dame aren’t the only schools being left by the Almighty Catholic 7. Sixteen minus seven is nine.

Wow so take the original Catholic 7, add Butler, Xavier, Creighton, Dayton, and St. Louis…. That’s going to be a helluva fun basketball league to watch!
