The only thing surprising about this is that you find it surprising.

Hmm…Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Omaha, and Dayton; the new Big East is looking more and more like the Big Midwest.

What about Holy Cross?
1) A NE team in the second largest city in MA – only 40 miles from Boston
2) A former National Division I BB Champion (okay a stretch…it was 1948)
3) DCA Center (at least 12,000 seat arena)
4) Natural rivalries with many of the Catholic 7
5) The alma mater of Cousy & Heinsohn….and my daughter

If Gonzaga wasn’t 3,000 miles away they’d be a great fit. Getting out of that laughing stock that is the WCC should be priority #1 for them (Mountain West makes sense).

Notre Dame would have worked as well because of the non-Football link but it appears they were looking at all other sports in their conf affiliation.

A few targets in the A10 and Horizon.
