Marshall Henderson flips off crowd following loss to La Salle (VIDEO)

So we’ve finally found it. We all heard the story yesterday about Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson giving the double-finger salute to the Kansas City crowd following a loss to La Salle in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Now, we have video proof.

After the game, Henderson told reporters that a fan (or multiple fans, it wasn’t clear) called his sister “a whore” and “said something about cocaine”, prompting the redshirt junior to tell the fans sitting above the Ole Miss tunnel exactly what he thought, with his digits.

It’s not like we haven’t come to expect this from Henderson. He’s passionate. He’s volatile. He’s brash. He’s crazy. He’s everything some of us love and hate at the same time about college basketball. He’s definitely the most polarizing player in college hoops.

Personally, I like the guy and everything that he comes him. He’s insane and makes a ton of enemies — and he has some issues with taking losses as well as he takes wins, obviously — but he’s so much more fun to watch. Especially compared to all the half-court-centric teams that enjoys games in the 50s and the players that repeat an unending trail of coach-speak. Basketball needs dudes like Henderson every once in awhile. He’s got demons to work out, like all of us. The difference is, he’s forced to display and work through his own in the public eye.

But these 16 seconds don’t look good on the guy. He’s definitely not ready mentally, emotionally or physically (he’s a 6-2 gunner, which are a dime a dozen in the pro ranks) for any type of professional basketball. And this is an example on why he needs to come back for his fifth year.

He’s Adam Morrison with a criminal record

    • scoocha - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:26 PM

I think Morrison was 5-7 inches taller but he also had a personality disorder as well.

  2. jjh1982 - Mar 25, 2013 at 11:05 PM

He’s never gonna make it in the NBA, overated, misses way too many shots

  3. bobulated - Mar 25, 2013 at 11:32 PM

Entertaining player but destined to be a D-Leaguer then Euro-league journeyman.

  4. scoregasmic - Mar 25, 2013 at 11:38 PM

    If he was black though…

    • David Harten - Mar 25, 2013 at 11:40 PM

He’d be Venoy Overton. Who I also loved to watch (on the court, at least, not so much after his career was over).

  5. barbeaux - Mar 25, 2013 at 11:48 PM

I thought he was okay until I saw his video on YouTube. He and his dad comes across as douche bags…explains a lot.

    • scoocha - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:27 PM

      Trailer trash family.

Proofread your articles before you submit them, Jesus.

  7. scoregasmic - Mar 26, 2013 at 12:45 AM

I’m just saying its strange that he can be tied to a scandal involving counterfeit money and drugs and still be loved by the media when guys like Ndamukong Suh are ripped apart for driving too fast

  8. fnc111 - Mar 26, 2013 at 6:36 AM

Let’s be honest this guy is getting laid like crazy at ole miss

  9. peopletrains - Mar 26, 2013 at 9:53 AM

Win like a dickhead, lose like a dickhead.

SVP and Russillo said it best yesterday. Here’s a couple quotes…
“We’re interested in a 14 for 42, 7 for 27 from 3 shooter? This is what America is in love with? Why? Because he is a clown? Because he acts like an idiot?”

“Here’s what we’ve learned…any attention is good attention for you. So kids, go do dumb crap and get noticed”

“If you ask if marshal Henderson is a pro just stop watching basketball. Apologize to your buddies retroactively”

Basically. I hate this guy and he’s everything that is WRONG w college sports. Rob, I can’t wait to read your article on him getting arrested for drugs. I know the article is coming…just not sure when.

  11. calredds65 - Mar 26, 2013 at 10:49 AM

I love the objective comments. For the writer to say: I like the guy and everything that he comes him. The same writers on CBT and Profootballtalk would be calling this guy a thug. If we could really honest. We know if this guy was not white, he would not be as beloved by the media. Once again, jpopejoy, scoregasmic and padraighansen, Thanks for providing objective comments

    • David Harten - Mar 26, 2013 at 10:54 AM

So since my opinion is different and somewhat pro-Henderson, it’s wrong? I didn’t say the guy was perfect. He has serious demons. But that’s what we all do here man. We inject a little bit of our own opinion. I have no connection to Ole Miss, I’m just not ready to slam a college kid because he made a mistake four years ago, paid for it, and now all he’s done wrong is piss people off by his on-court demeanor.

      • scoocha - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:34 PM

Your opinion is different that’s for sure. But is it different because you’re trying to get people enraged and increase the number of looks and comments to your article? Or do you really believe he’s a good guy and that would make you an idiot. You’re entitled to an opinion but it doesn’t make it right. I can say the sun is green to our eyes but that doesn’t make it true.
All that being said, I’m fairly confident you know that he is just an overrated jackass who’s starved for attention. I put the odds of him dying in a meth fire in the next 5 years at 1-2. At least you’ll have him back next year, so that you can keep writing gleaming articles about him.
So great seeing this Ole Miss lose with him on the bench.

      • David Harten - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:36 PM

Honest opinion man. I don’t do this for clicks or to troll. Until he does something to actually prove he’s an awful person off the court, I won’t believe he’s an awful person. Unlike most people on here, I’m not going to personally attack someone I don’t know personally.

      • David Harten - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:39 PM

And the article wasn’t gleaming. I said he’s got demons. He’s got issues. I just refuse to call a guy awful because he’s a jerk on the court.

  12. scoregasmic - Mar 26, 2013 at 12:03 PM

I’m not attacking you personally here because there are a lot of guys pro-Henderson and who am I to say that’s wrong. I’m just saying its interesting that he can act like that and have that issue in the past when no one can deny if Suh or Ron Artest did any of those things people would be all over them.

    • David Harten - Mar 26, 2013 at 12:05 PM

That’s fair. We’re all entitled to our own opinion.

    • David Harten - Mar 26, 2013 at 12:08 PM

I was reacting to calredds65 post. Your post was fair and I appreciate the feedback. In reference to calredds65, I just take exception when my objectivity is called into question and being told I’m wrong just because my opinion is different.

  13. mogogo1 - Mar 26, 2013 at 2:18 PM

This guy is going to be the teammate you DON’T want to have on your team playing abroad. I’m imagining him flipping the bird at a road game in Russia or Turkey or someplace and having the entire crowd rush the court with there being absolutely no security in sight.

  14. glink123 - Mar 27, 2013 at 12:53 AM

counterfeiting money, cocaine, and college basketball. what’s not to love about this fine young man? I hope your son turns out to be just like him.

  15. 11thstreetmafia - Mar 27, 2013 at 8:54 AM

I don’t know and will never know him. So, in the only time anyone will ever know anything about him he behaves like this. What a doucher.

  16. jpopejoy - Mar 27, 2013 at 1:14 PM

Calredd…race has nothing to do with it (for the record I’m white). I actually have no problem w suh…or today w artest (the one incident aside). I have a problem 1) w the repetition of this kids arrogance 2) (and more importantly) the medias glorification of him. This is what you DON’T want someone you know to act like.

He’s trash and will always be trash. His fantasy in the spotlight will end and everyone will forget about him and he’ll likely go back to drugs.

  17. ferrell5 - Oct 23, 2013 at 7:03 AM

his suspension, failed drug tests, and overall lack of respect tell me all i have to know about this joke.
