Brad Stevens will be in his third conference in as many seasons when the 2013-2014 campaign begins in October, however, Steven’s new home will not be the Pac-12 Conference.
The 36-year-old coach announced that he will remain at Butler next season, ending speculation surrounding him and UCLA, according to multiple media outlets, including CBS, ESPN, and the Indianapolis Star. This news shouldn’t shock many, as it appeared Stevens would be tough to uproot from Indiana as he gets set to guide the Bulldogs into the new Big East next season. On Thursday, ESPN reported that Stevens was UCLA’s top target and with one source saying they were in negotiations while another denied that claim.
Stevens also left little to the imagination this afternoon, when he tweeted the following:
Love walking thru Hinkle in the morning... Anxious to get started on our spring workouts next week.—

Stevens becomes just the latest UCLA coaching target to pass over the most storied program in college basketball history. VCU’s Shaka Smart was a name thrown around for the UCLA, USC and Minnesota head coaching vacancies, but instead signed an extension through 2023.
UCLA, now down two candidates, will continue to search for a replacement for Ben Howland. N.C State’s Mark Gottfried and Washington’s Lorenzo Romar, both former UCLA assistants, have been rumored, though, both seem to be set to stay at their current locations.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall, who has led the Shocker to the Elite Eight, has been mentioned in discussions per a source close to the athletic department.
