DePaul grants forward Donnavan Kirk permission to pursue transfer opportunities

With the recent news that former Purdue forward Sandi Marcius would transfer to DePaul, it was only a matter of time before the other shoe dropped in this scenario.

That would be Donnavan Kirk looking to finish his collegiate career at another institution. On Friday the school announced that it has granted Kirk permission to contact other schools regarding transfer opportunities.

Kirk, who began his career at Miami, would be of some value given the fact that he’s a 6-9 forward who will graduate with his bachelor’s degree this summer. That would make him immediately eligible to play in 2013-14.

In 31 games for the Blue Demons, Kirk averaged 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest. While DePaul certainly isn’t “loaded” inside, the presence of Marcius and Cleveland Melvin puts them in solid position to absorb the loss of Kirk.

In addition to Marcius and Melvin, head coach Oliver Purnell has added two junior college transfers to the front court rotation in Forrest Robinson and Greg Sequele and 6-10 freshman Tommy Hamilton Jr.
