Belmont head coach Rick Byrd has had a tremendous amount of success on the floor and the Bruins are coming off of three consecutive NCAA Tournament bids. Although Belmont moved to the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2012-13 season, that success continued as the Bruins finished 26-7 on their way to regular season and conference championships in their new league.

Now, the Bruins are seeing the payoff on the recruiting trail as 2014 forward Amanze Egekeze committed to Belmont on Thursday night after taking an official visit to the Nashville campus last weekend.

The 6-7 Egekeze -- a native of Huntley, Illinois -- comes from a very successful Illinois Wolves AAU program that yearly produces a number of Division I players at all levels. The commitment of Egekeze was confirmed to NBC Sports by Illinois Wolves coach Mike Mullins.

Egekeze told the Elgin Courier News that he felt comfortable with Belmont and the program.

“The people there really blew me away and sold it for me,” Egekeze said. “I felt leaving the visit that Belmont was the place for me. Nashville is a great city and the players were awesome. It was a no-brainer for me at that point.”

Egekeze missed much of his junior season at Huntley High School after getting surgery on his left knee to help alleviate tendonitis.
