Tanveer Bhullar commits to New Mexico State, joins brother Sim (PICTURE)

New Mexico State landed a late commitment to its incoming class on Tuesday, though, the latest addition has a familiar name.

Tanveer Bhullar, brother of the Aggies’ 7-foot-5 rising sophomore center Sim Bhullar, announced his decision to join New Mexico State via his own Instagram account.

The younger Bhullar had interest Oklahoma, Oregon, Wichita State, and most recently New Mexico, but told Groves of the Las Cruces Sun News that his comfort level with the coaches and program played a big role. Tanveer was on an official visit to NMSU this past weekend.

The Canadian-born center contemplated spending an extra year of high school, but since he has already graduated, changed his mind and will enroll this fall. It is still unclear whether he will redshirt this season.

“I got my diploma and I realized that spending another year in high school won’t mean as much compared to spending a year in college with college coaches and college trainers,” Bhullar told Groves.

Tanveer, listed two inches shorter than his brother at 7-foot-3, spent this past season at Father Henry Carr Catholic School in Ontario. He played eight games in May with Canadian-power CIA Bounce this summer on the EYBL circuit.

Sim Bhullar averaged 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Aggies, who finished 24-11 (14-4 WAC) and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
