On the left, you see a picture of the new Sports Illustrated cover featuring Doug McDermott.

On the right, you’ll see the 1977 Sports Illustrated cover that it was based off of. That would be Larry Bird of Indiana State fame, two seasons before he led the Sycamores to the national title game. McDermott passed Bird on the career scoring list earlier this season.

Are those cheerleaders on the left, or sexy nurses?

I never knew Larry wore striped shorts!

When does this cover come out?

Are they publishing multiple covers like they did last month with the Shockers and Jabari Parker on different ones?

I heard the Shockers were going to be on the cover for March with Tekele Cotton out front.

Can we get a cover of Doug Gotlieb taking a bent-over paddling from an NCAA official for Doug’s trashing of conferences and bad-boy opinions?

I’m more curious how tall the one cheerleader is, considering McDermott’s 6’8 and she’s bent with her head at his armpit…

Looks like she would be at least 6′, but sometimes the angles can be deceiving.
