It’s time to move past bracket projections and get ready for March Madness.

In our final look, Florida stands above the crowd as the overall No. 1 seed.  Arizona, Wichita State, and Michigan close out the top line. Virginia may land atop the East Region. Same for Villanova.  It’s been a great race.

UPDATED: March 16, 2014  |  FINAL PROJECTION

Teams in CAPS represent the AUTOMATIC bid based on tournament results. Exceptions are made for teams that use an abbreviation (UCLA, BYU, etc).

Several new bracketing principles were introduced after last year’s tournament. You can read them for yourself at http://www.ncaa.com. For example: teams from the same conference may now meet before a Regional final, even if fewer than eight teams are selected. The goal is to keep as many teams as possible on their actual seed line.

I don’t see Michigan as a #1 seed. Michigan State just beat them today in the Big Ten tournament.

Both teams now have 8 losses on the year. I could very well be wrong, but I don’t think a #1 seed has ever had 8 losses…

No Big Ten teams will be a #1 seed this year. Wisconsin is the only Big team with 7 losses, everyone else has more and Wisconsin isn’t getting a #1 seed.

Virginia should get the last #1 seed as they just beat Duke for the ACC tournament title.
