Dominic Artis is leaving the Oregon basketball program, according to a report from ESPN.com.
Artis averaged 4.1 points and 2.2 assists as a sophomore, disappointing numbers following a promising freshman campaign in which he posts 8.5 points and 3.1 assists.
Artis was suspended for the first nine games of the season after getting caught selling limited edition Nikes that were given to the Oregon basketball team. In his absence, senior Johnathan Loyd took over the starting point guard role and played the best basketball of his career. Artis was never fully able to get back into the good graces of the coaching staff. The other player that was suspended at the time, Ben Carter, has also transferred out of the program.
Artis, who was a four-star recruit out of California, is replaceable for the Ducks. Not only did they get some good news with Joseph Young announced that he would be returning to school for his senior season, but Brandon Austin, a four-star recruit that missed last season at Providence, will be eligible in December.
