West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins has hip replaced

Jun 9, 2014, 8:00 PM EDT

West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins is recovering from hip surgery to replace his right hip, according to a release from the school. Huggins underwent the surgery on Monday Morning and is said to be “doing fine.”

Huggins is 60-years old and has been West Virginia’s coach since 2007-08 after previously spending time as the head coach at Kansas State, Cincinnati and Akron. He owns a 739-303 career record including 150-91 at West Virginia.

The Mountaineers head coach isn’t the first big-name college basketball coach to have a hip replaced this offseason. Kentucky head coach John Calipari also had his hip replaced in May and Huggins took to Twitter to mention it:

No word back from Calipari yet, but hopefully both coaches are patrolling the sidelines again shortly.
