On Friday, former North Carolina Tar Heel Rashad McCants made an appearance on Mark Packer’s SiriusXM radio show saying that he and head coach Roy Williams had no relationship and that neither the school nor the NCAA had reached out to him about his comments regarding the academic scandal at the university.

“I’m still waiting on that,” McCants said. “And UNC hasn’t reached out to me, and neither has the NCAA. But we have strategic plans in place to really make some strides and get the awareness out for the people who don’t know anything about what’s really going on.”

The story took another step on Monday, as McCants was back on SiriusXM, this time claiming that both UNC and the NCAA were going to be cutting him a check. From the radio show, as transcribed by the Charlotte Observer:

“The question is what are we talking about, honestly. I mean I have a check being written to me from the University of North Carolina for over $10 million due to the exploitation of me as a player and the lack of education that I received. The NCAA has a check for me for over $300 million to help me facilitate these sports education programs across the country. These are things that’s in the works.”

McCants has been unclear about whether or not he will participate in the investigation, but either way, I find it very hard to believe that McCants will be getting $310 million for anything.

Seriously some horrible clickbait here. Read the quote from McCants.

He might get 10 million for himself.

The 300 million would be to facilitate programs so athletes get education they need, and to set programs to make it a reality with McCants working to facilitate this, he isn’t getting a check for 300 million dollars.

Please don’t write such obvious clickbait articles it makes you seem less intelligent and unable to read a quote.

Even though yes it does appear that he would be getting a check for $10 million instead of $310 million, what has he honestly done to deserve this much money?

Don’t go there. You could ask that question about a lot of wealthy individuals.

Obviously this guy has entered tin foil hat territory.

If there was no paper trail UNC would gladly pay McCants $10M to go away.

Clear his lack of education has lead him to misunderstanding what UNC and the NCAA told him.

Any hope he had of UNC settling with him went out the window with those comments. It wouldn’t have been all that surprising if they’d settled to make the story go away. But a condition of that would be him being quiet… not doing radio interviews talking about how they exploited him and were now going to pay him off.

What does McCants want? About an “atta boy” and just go away…

  9. qonc1 - Jul 8, 2014 at 6:57 PM

If Rashad McCants gets $10 MM from UNC, they’d have to pay out every other player whoever played for them…..

Also, for the fans who are suffering from this clown and 1/2 – I’d like to throw my hat into the ring and grab a few million for being subjected to Rashad McCants’ BS. Any takers on this one?

Does it seem odd that on friday he’s had no contact with UNC nor the NCAA, and now he’s getting multi-million dollar checks from each? Has McCants been treated for mental illness in the past?

May have had a bad weekend at the casino.
