John Calipari calls Mike Francesa’s radio show to complain about a critique (AUDIO)

Aug 21, 2014, 10:55 AM EDT

John Calipari was on Mike Francesa’s radio show yesterday, and after Cal left, Francesa made a comment saying that Cal isn’t a great x’s-and-o’s coach, that his true strength is his ability to recruit, to motivate and to convince the talent he brings in to buy into the role they need to play.

That’s a fair critique.

But don’t tell Cal that, because Cal immediately called into Francesa’s show as “John from Kentucky” to defend himself.

It’s hilarious:

Francesa’s opinions are always those he hears. If you really listen, he doesn’t know much about sports. He uses other views, including those of previous callers, as his own. And then repeats them over and over. “He’s not a game day coach, ok? He’s just not. He’s not a game day coach.”

Makes you wonder how guys like that even get those jobs, let alone keep them.

As a Florida fan, I should hate everything labeled Kentucky… but I don’t. They have, what, EIGHT national championships now? I applaud him for what’s been done in his time there. You try taking 12 egomaniacs who have been told they’re each the greatest thing to ever set foot on a basketball court throughout their respective high school careers where each was “the man”, and get them to round out into a TEAM.

Sometimes the toughest thing to do in sports isn’t winning with less talent… it’s winning with too much talent.

Mike who!! Another reporter or shock jock full of themselves who they think they are experts on everything someone else does for a living. They really have nothing of value to offer too society other than usually hating on someone!!

You might want to listen to the audio before commenting. He calls him a “master recruiter” and says that nobody motivates guys better or does a better job at getting guys to play defense. He says Cal has a “absolute gift.” Hardly hating on the guy. Rather bizarre Calipari called in unless it was supposed to be a joke that didn’t come off that way.

Francesa has a point , to a degree, but should’ve made it while Calipari was on air.

Mike Francesa….MF….those initials suit him perfectly.

He’s a tough listen as he stutters and stammers his way through a thought, all the while repeating the same sentence ten times.

His callers all the while milking his prostrate, which he just loves….at times it’s actually comical….
