Mike Brennan has signed a contract extension with American, the school announced on Thursday. The contract is for six years, which would theoretically keep him in D.C. until 2020.

This is not surprising news.

The Eagles, who were picked ninth in the Patriot League heading into last season, won their first ten games in league play en route to a second place finish in the conference regular season and a conference tournament title.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent American University and excited to extend my time here at AU,” said Brennan. “The support from the athletic department and from the university has been tremendous and I look forward to building upon a successful year.”

The last American coach to win the first ten games in league play? Gary Williams. He ended up being pretty good.
