Arizona State commit Jordan Washington was arrested and charged with Fifth Degree Theft late this week at a local Walmart, according to The Ottumwa Post.

The 6-foot-8, 255-pound big man from Indian Hills Community College was booked at Wapello County Jail for allegedly shoplifting two DVDs from the Ottumwa Walmart.

The DVDs: “Curse of Chucky” and “Taken.”

Total value of the items: $17.84

Washington’s bond was set at $300 and he was bailed out a little over an hour after his arrival.

Indian Hills provided a statement to The Ottumwa Post regarding Washington’s arrest.

“The Indian Hills administration and coaching staff are aware of Jordan’s arrest. He has been suspended from basketball activities until the matter is resolved. We are still in the process of gathering facts ourselves and we know the legal system will need to process his case. When that is finished, a decision will be made as to the discipline Jordan will receive.”

Washington played for Barret Peery at Indian Hills last season and Peery is now an assistant coach at Arizona State under Herb Sendek so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. As a freshman, Washington averaged 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
