St. Michael the Archangel (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) guard/forward Jacob Evans may have entered the summer without a great deal of acclaim from a national standpoint, but his play in various camps and on the grassroots circuit with the Louisiana Dynasty program changed that. Evans is a four-star prospect capable of playing either the two or the three, with multiple scouting services now ranking him with the Top 100 of the Class of 2015 (Rivals ranks him 96th in the class).

According to Ben Love of Tiger Sports Digest the Baton Rouge product is down to five schools, with his hometown university (LSU) among the remaining choices. In addition to LSU, Evans is still considering Auburn, Cincinnati, South Carolina and Tulane with a trip to Cincinnati scheduled for this weekend.

Of the five schools Auburn’s had the most productive recruiting cycle at the wing positions, with Nu Williams and Danjel Purifoy both having already committed to joining Bruce Pearl’s program next season. South Carolina doesn’t lack for depth either, with Sindarius Thornwell leading a number of options with two freshmen (TeMarcus Blanton and Shamiek Sheppard) joining the program. As for LSU, Johnny Jones’ team doesn’t have a great amount of depth in those areas with UNC Asheville transfer Keith Hornsby and Tim Quarterman being their best options at this point in time.

As for the two American Athletic Conference programs on Evans’ list both Cincinnati and Tulane could use a recruiting boost on the wing. The Bearcats will lose senior Jermaine Sanders at the end of this season, with Tulane having two seniors in Jay Hook and Trey Drye to account for when recruiting Class of 2015 prospects.

Evans’ recruitment will be something for all five programs to keep track of in the coming weeks, and if he can build on his successful summer the Baton Rouge product could end up ranked even higher than he currently is.
