Syracuse center Dajuan Coleman played a total of three minutes in ACC play before being sidelined with a knee injury. Coleman’s sophomore season came to an end on Jan. 20, and according to Chris Carlson of Syracuse.com, Jim Boeheim won’t know Coleman’s status until November.

“I’ve said consistently that this was a bad knee surgery,” Boeheim told the media on Wednesday. “This wasn’t a go-in-and-fix-this-ligament type of thing. He’s worked unbelievably hard, as hard as you could ever ask anyone, every day. His surgery was different, more complex, more complicated, than any of the other surgeries we’ve had.”

The Orange need to address the loss of C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant, in addition to Baye-Moussa Keita, in the front court. Without Coleman, Rakeem Christmas will be the only experienced member on the interior, playing alongside five-star freshman Chris McCullough and sophomore forward Tyler Roberson, who averaged 8.1 minutes per game as the odd man out of Syracuse’s rotation last season.

The 6-foot-10 Coleman averaged 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 13 games as a sophomore.

Syracuse has two scheduled exhibition games -- Nov. 2 vs. Carleton (Ontario) and Nov. 10 vs. Adrian College (Division III) -- before the start of the 2014-2015 season against Kennesaw State in the 2K Classic.
